HMS Pinafore Sails Through Portsmouth

I'm not an art critic, but I was reminded last night why I enjoy musical theatre. Yesterday evening, July 10, the Southern Ohio Light Opera (SOLO) performed Gilbert and Sullivan's "HMS Pinafore" at SSU's Vern Riffe Center for the Arts. This show marked the 25th anniversary for SOLO.

Students hunt to heighten Earth Day awareness

A bright, professional display for Earth Day met students in front of the cash register entering the Bear's Den April 22. Jonathon "Top Hat" Minelli, business major, was the man behind the table. Minelli's goal was to promote awareness for Earth Day with an "Earth Conscious Scavenger Hunt.

Cineaste to host BYOM

SSU's film society, Cineaste, plans to host a "bring your own movie" night in place of their scheduled film April 30 in Massie 438. Attendees are encouraged to bring a movie or two of their choice to the meeting. The attendees are then going to vote on what movie they want to watch.

Say goodbye to your old textbooks

The SSU Campus Bookstore will begin buying back textbooks the week of finals, May 4-9. From the word around on campus, students can hardly wait to finish the spring semester. The end of a semester means a lot of things, including selling those old textbooks only to find yourself buying more when the next term begins.

Good Doctor makes house call to SSU

On April 15th - 18th, Neil Simon's comedy with music, The Good Doctor, filled the Kahl Studio Theatre with chuckles and all out laughter. The all student cast, and John Huston production, produced another Broadway quality performance. While watching a production that evokes so many smiles and giggles, one may ponder then hear this very inner monologue "They look like they are having fun…I wonder what they are thinking".
