I admit it. I'm a sports writer. Actually, I've never denied that fact. It's what I do, and what I plan to continue doing for a long time. I came to school at SSU to pursue a sports writing career, and did so at a great time. For the Invitational the Bears finished in fourth place out of eight teams with a team score of 662.
Shawnee State Lady Bears added two more to their losing streak, as they fell to Point Park University Friday, April 10. In game one, both teams started off slow, but the Lady Bears took control in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs, Fuhrmann, who was walked by Heigel, was brought in by Kayla Evans' RBI single to center field to put the Bears on the board.
Shawnee State University has announced its intent to withdraw from the American Mideast Conference following the 2009-2010 year. The timing coincides with their application to join the Mid-South Conference beginning in the fall of 2010. "We have enjoyed our time in the AMC having developed some great friendships and rivalries with numerous teams throughout the conference," SSU Athletic Director Jeff Hamilton said.
