2009 gave us some great movies that we will remember for years to come.

Inglourious Basterds (Quentin Tarantino)

After a terrible let down with 2007's "Death Proof," a lot of die hard Tarantino fans were not expecting much from "Inglourious Basterds," which was understandable because with all of his films prior to "Death Proof" practically being gold, he may have just been out of ideas. Tarantino however, pulled out all the stops in this stylized spaghetti western set in German occupied France, and featured Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine, the leader of Jewish-American soldiers who call themselves "the basterds." Amazing acting, memorable characters and a story that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats makes the 153-minute movie fly by as well as make it the best film of 2009.

Trick 'R Treat (Michael Dougherty)

Even though this film was scheduled to be released as far back as 2007, Dougherty's film, "Trick 'R Treat," was released nationwide Oct. 6, and world-wide Oct. 26, directly to DVD. I know that a lot of movies that are released directly to DVD, especially horror films, are not usually worth watching but this is an exception. Warner Bros. made a huge mistake when they did not release "Trick 'R Treat" in cinemas. The film is an anthology that follows four stories, all of which take place during Halloween, and all of which are interwoven in a non-linear plot and provided a mix of horror and comedy that hasn't been done so well since "Evil Dead 2." "Trick 'R Treat" has everything I want in a horror film; interesting stories, bloody death scenes, humor and plans for a sequel.

The Hangover (Todd Phillips)
,br>There are several reasons why "The Hangover" is the highest grossing R-rated comedy, and the third highest grossing R-rated movie (beaten only by "The Passion of the Christ" and "The Matrix Reloaded"), in the United States. It's full of non-stop comedy and countless one-liners that have appeared on numerous people's Facebook statuses across the world.

Following four guys, one of which is to be married in two days, on their alcohol and drug filled trip to Las Vegas. "The Hangover" features modern comedy greats Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and a whole crew of other hilarious actors and actresses which helped make the film such a huge success. "The Hangover" will surely be the comedy film to which other comedy films released in the future and past are measured.

Haven't seen the horror film, but I may check it out. Sounds good. The other two are awesome.

However, the best movie of 2009 is Gran Torino. There are twice as many great one-liners in it than in The Hangover. (Continued…)

Adam, Gran Torino was really good but the one liners that are mentioned, are not very PC friendly, lol. (Continued…)
