Recognize this friendly face? This is Vi Hill, one of the many friendly faces you encounter when you visit the Bear's Den cafeteria here at SSU.

Vi swipes our cards or collects our money for lunch every day; however, most of us know nothing about who she is, where she came from or what make her Vi.

Q: So, what makes you Vi?

A: "I was born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio. I am the 9th child. I have 8 brothers and I am the only girl.

I graduated on the Dean's List in 1988 from South Eastern Business College with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. I also attended Shawnee State University.

I moved to Colorado for almost 25 years, and then came back home to Portsmouth and started working at the Bear's Den right after I returned.

I have been married for more than a year-and-a-half to Thedward Hill."

Q: What do you do when you are not working here?

A: "I go to Church, sing and enjoy spending time with my husband."

Q: How long have you been working at the Bear's Den?

A: "More than three and a half years; I started in 2006 at the beginning of the school year."

Q: What is your favorite part of the job?

A: "Greeting the students with a warm smile to get their day started, and I sometimes help them with problems they may be having throughout the day."

Q: Do you have any job-related pet peeves or things you don't like to do?

A: "I do not like to seem mean to the students when I have to turn away a guest when they are out of guest passes."

Q: If you could say anything to the students what would that be?

A: "Learn all you can and stay focused. Never set your goals to where they will be impossible to reach; just remember this: If you can see it, you can achieve it! Good luck to all of you!"

Vi has been recognized for her award winning service and happily continues to provide that service.

"Vi is always kind. She always has a positive attitude and will say things to make you smile when you come in with a frown," said Amanda Fitch, SSU student and Bear's Den patron.
