The Shawnee State University Board of Trustees is looking to fill the position of student trustee.
The board includes two student members who are appointed by the Governor upon recommendation by the university president, and those individuals serve for up to two fiscal years.
The Board is responsible for learning the strengths and needs of how SSU functions, and to formulate policies based on their findings. Members attend regular bi-monthly meetings, vote on decisions that affect the entire university, and must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be involved in campus, community or other service-oriented activities. They must also submit a resume or biography with their application packet, as well as a short essay explaining why the applicant wishes to be considered for the position.
Application materials are available in the Office of the President or in the Student Affairs office. All Applicants must complete the state Boards and Commissions Questionnaire and sign a waiver permitting the university to look into their academic record. Qualified applicants will then be interviewed before recommendations are sent to the state level.
Completed applications are due in the Office of the President no later than Friday, Feb. 19. Notification of appointment will come from the Governor's office.
